Zeus visits the nursing home

Hi! My name is Zeus, and I live at Pegasus Farms in Enumclaw, Washington. My owner Gina asked me to write about my first trip to visit the local retirement center and I said I'd try. I don't know how good I'll be 'cause after all, I'm just a baby, but I'll do my best. Gina says I'm a real trooper 'cause I try real hard. I guess that's just 'cause I've had so many awful things happen to me in my little life.

Anyway, Gina told me this morning that I was gonna go visit those nice old folks that came to visit me when I was sick with my colic surgery. I was really scared when she said that 'cause I'm sure afraid of strangers sometimes. I kinda worry that they might be going to poke me with needles or something, and that really hurts. I said OK though so Gina brushed me (that felt good) and put down my special carpet in the back of the Blazer (in case I have an accident) and then she picked me up and put me in. I don't know how she can do that 'cause I'm really BIG! I am 20" tall and I weigh 60 lbs. No-one else in the foal pasture thinks I'm big, but I'm older than them, they're just babies and I'm six months old.

Gina put up the tail gate and closed the window and I got scared again. I called my mom, Goldie, but we were already down the driveway so I tried to relax and gosh, it turned out to be really fun! I could see everything out of my window and there were lots and lots of farm animals zooming by. I wish I could run that fast, I'd show those guys at home what I could do.
It only took about 10 minutes to get to the retirement center, and I guess I was kinda nervous 'cause I had a little accident on the way. I was really embarrassed 'cause I'm a big guy, but Gina wasn't mad at me. She lifted me out and we walked up to the front door and walked in.

WOW, what a nice barn they live in. It had this funny soft grass on the floor, (I tried to eat it but it didn't taste good) and all these things they were sitting on. I tried real hard to reach up to everyone, but I could only reach their knees. They were all real nice, they loved my big brown eyes and long lashes. They said my coat was really soft too. I got kinda embarrassed with all the attention so I went over to the nice director lady who was stooping down and hid my head in her lap. She thought I was awful cute and petted me a lot. I really liked that, it felt good.

Then we visited all the folks in the dining room and it was like a game. I could walk under all those things they call tables and everyone laughed and clapped for me. After that we visited a really nice man in his room. They said I was a special visitor for him and he was really surprised to see such a little horse. I'm not little though, I'm really very BIG. I know I am!!Everyone said I was so good and I guess I was, except I started to think I needed to go potty again so I headed for that big door I could see through. No-one opened it for me and I guess they didn't understand, so I kinda held it and walked back and forth until they let me out. Boy, I sure didn't want to make a mistake in that nice barn.

Everyone thanked me for coming and I was really glad that I did. They all smiled a lot at me and talked to me and petted me and the nice director lady said I was a very important visitor and made all the folks laugh. Gina thinks I'm really special and so does my Doctor Bob, but me, I just think I'm big
